A Year In Review
January 20, 2025

Welcome to the Dream Center Newsletter!

As we look back on 2024, we’re excited to share some amazing moments! Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and the support of our community, we’ve achieved some great things together. In this edition, we’ll celebrate the highlights of our year while remembering that it’s the teamwork and dedication of everyone involved that truly makes the Dream Center Golden Triangle what it is.

Throughout 2024, the Dream Center achieved remarkable progress by placing 565 beds for children in the Golden Triangle region, providing bedding, hygiene supplies, and Bibles—an increase of 66 beds from the previous year. To date, we have reached a total of 1,869 children. The Bedz4Kidz program also addressed critical needs by supplying clothing, food, furniture, stoves, and refrigerators.

Over the course of the year, we hosted 13 bed-build events. These events were sponsored by various volunteer organizations, during which volunteers constructed a total of 650 beds, averaging 50 beds per event.

You’ll experience how a little kindness can make a big difference.

In the Golden Triangle Region, approximately 40,000 pounds of food was distributed to those in need, including the poor, food pantries, shut-ins, soup kitchens, and men's residential drug and alcohol facilities.

In December, the Dream Center signed a Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U.) with the Mississippi Food Network, establishing the Dream Center Golden Triangle as a HUB for food distribution beginning in the first quarter of 2025.

Additionally, we acquired a 2,000 cubic foot walk-in freezer for our warehouse and 12 pallet racks to store non-perishable food products.

The Dream Center organized a Serve Day event that spanned several days, focusing on assisting a single mother of four who purchased a trailer and land sight unseen, only to discover it was a former drug den in a state of disrepair. Here's what we did:

  • Removed over 300 used tires from the property
  • Filled the largest roll-off dumpster to capacity twice
  • Rebuilt the front porch
  • Replaced 3 leaking windows
  • Installed a new front door
  • Upgraded a defective stove
  • Provided beds, mattresses, bedding, and hygiene supplies for all four children
  • Supplied fresh bedding and linens for the mother, along with new furniture and home essentials

This event significantly improved the living conditions for the family, showcasing the power of community support and dedication.

Through the Hope's Journey program, we conducted 15 educational assemblies in middle and high schools across the Golden Triangle to inform students about the dangers of child sexual exploitation and the tactics used to lure children into commercial sex and labor trafficking.

We also made significant progress in identifying additional facilities to enhance our commitment to rescuing survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. This includes establishing a network of trauma-informed counselors, specialized caregivers, and law enforcement professionals. Additionally, we have developed partnerships to support the future launch of a long-term safe house for survivors

To end the year, Mary O’Neill Phillips of Country Outdoors hosted a powerful event, in partnership with Dream Center Golden Triangle, that further supported Hope's Journey. The goal of the event was to inspire change through education and prevention, empowering individuals and communities to recognize the signs of trafficking and take a stand against this injustice. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by human trafficking.  COUNTRY OUTDOORS ARTISIT AGAINST TRAFFICKING EVENT PHOTOS - CLICK HERE!
